The PNW is a beautiful place to live. No matter what type of terrain you enjoy, you can find it here. From time to time, living here, we forget to enjoy it, so we planned a midweek escape to the Pacific coast.
This is a great time of year to go. Many of the resorts and hotels are having pre-high season specials or midweek deals. After getting several ads featuring a big furry German Shepherd advertising their dog friendly accommodations, I booked us a night, with our German Shepherd, at the Adrift Hotel.
The drive was a little over an hour, traveling along rivers and through the woods and hills.
Along the way, we stopped at a place call C+C Diner in Raymond. Decked out in faux Americana and classic diner decor, they were pretty good if a bit pricey. I had a club sandwich with tots.
We then finished our trip to the hotel. It was nice if basic. The location was great, just a short walk to the beach.

The weather was about perfect for us. Not quite warm enough for me to go into the water, although others were splashing around in the waves. The breeze coming off the Pacific was strong enough to keep us cool as we walked on what they claim is the world’s longest boardwalk.

Dinner was at the hotel restaurant, Pickled Fish. We had eaten our late lunch just a few hours before, so neither of us were very hungry, but I couldn’t say no to a Wagyu burger and house made fries. I only ate half and so had my next day lunch.

They had a nice heated pool with 3 dry saunas. Once the sun went down, the wind felt brisk as you stepped out of the pool and quickly into a sauna. We’ll just call it invigorating and leave it at that. We didn’t indulge in their spa services but they looked good.

In the morning, we stopped at Seaview Biscuit Company. The biscuit and gravy were good, thick and just a bit spicy. Then, we headed home. Back to the grind.
