April 29-30, 2023 we went to see Willie’s 90th birthday celebration concert at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. We weren’t really sure what to expect because there was a whole list of bands and performers on the bill. Turns out, each performer did a song or two from Willie, then maybe one from themselves and told a story about Willie. It was an amazing two nights. The first night had Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Kris Kristofferson, the Lumineers, Bob Weir, Billy Strings, Lyle Lovett, Warren Gaines, and wrapped up with a knock out performance of What It’s Worth featuring Stephen Stills and Neil Young.

Night two had a few repeats plus Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Beck, Emmy Lou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Shooter Jennings, George Strait, Lucas Nelson, and yes, Keith Richards! I know I’m missing a few performers. The house band was led by Don Was.
